How New York contract deadlines are counted

By statute (General Construction Law §25), a contract deadline that falls on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday may be met the next business day unless the contract says otherwise. Upstate board forms commonly give each attorney 3 business days to approve. Downstate contracts usually set a mortgage commitment date, often about 45 days.
